Damn. He was hoping that he'd manage to get all of his ducks in a row before THAT happened. At least it looks like Marias and Akaba wailed on him enough to put him down for a while...

So, Kaz can be found at LDS. Probably in places a scuzzy looking fellow like him shouldn't be. Like on his way to see Akaba. With the current problems, he has at least left his sword with security.

::Well, a scuzzy bastard like you can run into a fellow like me, Top Team Coat over my shoulders. Probably on break in one of the upper floors, reading through a beaten and dogeared and sticky-noted book labelled Shinseiki no Yogen ("Prophecies of the New Century").::

::Snaps the book shut like a bear trap, and places it face-down at his side, along with his reading glasses.::

... Also the demons outside aren't helping jack."

But I think they're being kept to a minimum.

"Yeah. Just weird I gotta carry a sword to work again."

He smiles slightly.

"Also that fucking duel with Vesik." Made my mouth water in anticipation. "What a world, yeah?"

A pause, before he scratches at the back of his head.

"I was, uh. In the arena when that whole duel went down."

I haven't been able to get a straight answer about what happened out there exactly.

"I got a few suspicions, nothing concrete.

So, y'know. Like life in general."

And would you like to air those suspicions to a co-worker?

He shrugs.

"I've seen alot of shit, but there's no way in a place like Domino, with as high profile as he was, that fucking Crusher would've been allowed to keep going if they knew... about what he could do. Thank god Marias is a bigger person than most of us thought."

Also, what the hell did my boss do? Why do I keep finding myself in bed with demons and darkness and fire? Thanks mom.

"... I got files on my candidates. Most of 'em are still strong maybes. You can look over them yourself or I can start right now, if ya want boss."

"Right now? Ya were right about Tsurugi, to start off with. Girl needs a therapist, not me training her for war. Garum and Landrobe are performing exactly how I thought they would. Hibiki's made of ice and steel, so I think on that front we're fine..."

He clears his throat.

"I'm bumping up a maybe to their level though. And two who flew under my radar." A deep breath. Tosses down folders of Kou, Neil, and finally Trendafilka. "The two guys are... thorough duelists, and the last... well. I'm surprised she's doing anything with that deck at all."

Then get her one. We're shortlisted, and she's still in consideration. ::Flips through the folders for Kou, Neil and Trena.:: Also, current opinions on Tsukumo and Sakaki? Takegami's given me the opinion the two shouldn't be trusted.

And with... Due respect towards Takegami, I like the kid, but I think his vision's a little clouded on them."

He runs a hand through his hair.

"Tsukumo could probably be convinced. The people that blew up his hometown? Even if he doesn't want to get as... vicious as some of the others, he'll do it because it's the right thing. I think he needs a bit of polishing, duel wise, but that's what this is disguised as. He's improving. He's got some sorta magic crap going on, mostly with his numbers. I've stuck out feelers to DA so I can get a better idea.

Now... Sakaki's a different story. I've watched him make pendulum summoning over and over on the internet. Gives me the willies, if I'm gonna be honest. And it's... like there's not a negative vibe in his body. Which ALSO weirds me out. There's no balance. Tiny little sensitive heart. I'd put him above all our other candidates if I didn't have those misgivings. Especially using magic to make a duel disk system accept cards that he shouldn't have been using then..."

Kou's just a basic rundown on public documents with him. Kaz's experience with him, thorough, clearly extremely tough to take as much punishment as he did and still kick something off of Trena. Neil is clearly trying to 'fly low' but 'played his hand' when he nearly took out a top eight contender in a perfect duel before he pissed her off. Which then brings him to:

And then Trendafilka's growth is astounding, from getting stomped on by Kachidoki to kicking the crap out of him recently. If that can be kept up and she can fed a steady diet of strong duelists...

... It's fine. It's not really the fact that they're a danger that's bothering me.

It's just that seeing them gives me a very... sickening feeling.

Though I guess I should at least get home to get a few things.
