[An Event Post]
May. 6th, 2017 01:22 amAfter a little bit of wheedling from nerds, instead of relaxing on his one day off, Kaz can be found:
1.) On the Barian Island! He's got questions that he could really care less about but might be important down the line. So, he's here to ask them and maybe just get conversations with sane people.
2.) At a cafe in his 'way too relaxed' teacher garb. He's going over papers in a folder, occasionally puffing on his unlit cigarette in his mouth. Sometimes he consults a large cork board at his feet.

Date: 2017-05-06 06:32 am (UTC)Either way, Failnaught's already staring at you when you make your presence known, for once not pouring over the Sanctum.*
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:37 am (UTC)... This is fine. Gives a wave.
"Ah! Hey Failnaught. What's going on?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:37 am (UTC)*that's... that's fair.*
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:40 am (UTC)Unfortunately, all I've got today are uncomfortable questions."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:41 am (UTC)What questions?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:48 am (UTC)Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:50 am (UTC)Does this involve the "uncomfortable questions"?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:56 am (UTC)Anyway. Brass tacks? Brass tacks."
Literally anyone else here? ... no? Just Failnaught? Fine.
"Uncomfortable questions then. Did... Scythe possess someone a little while ago...?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:58 am (UTC)... He makes a "hnmn." sound, giving you this stare.*
Why do you ask?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:10 am (UTC)"There's a guy, Mamoru? I kinda work with him, and Sullivan's got a weird crush on this project he's working on. Makes very convincing, very real feeling dark duels, to the point where another buddy of mine took off for the Twelve Dimensions to see if it had any lasting impact on real people.
He also apparently grabbed a scythe and wandered around with it, has amnesia about the whole thing, and got his cards replaced. He's, uh. One sec."
He pulls out a notepad and consults.
"'Missing one card, which is blank. The deck is sad.' ... That's all I took from that two hour wheedle from Sullivan...? Ah! And my companion thinks that his psychic powers were enhanced by the possession or something is lingering on."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:17 am (UTC)I only know so much about the situation, but... One moment.
*he walks off towards the Sanctum, and you almost think he might've ditched you, but
He comes back carrying a very large mechanical scythe, that looks like it requires a great amount of strength to carry, let alone hold properly, and he places it blade-first into the ground. It's notable that it has a large gap in its' head, as well.*
When Scythe's weapon came to me, it was in pieces. It was only by sentiment that it was even restored to it's previous state. The pieces... were very worn and rusted over.
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:25 am (UTC)The gap is... It's missing the real important part, yeah?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:31 am (UTC)I can't restore what doesn't exist, anymore.
We, the Barians-- the bodies you see aren't our true forms. We are made up of our weapons, and our Cores. Damage to either one can cause... Undesirable effects. After all, the Core is our self, while the weapon is what could be considered to be our true body, as well as a filtering mechanism.
Going back to the question... I think I can say for certain that Scythe did possess a human. But given the state those pieces were in... I think it's safe for me to claim that by the time that had happened, his senses had long since been worn away.

There is:
That Case I Can't Talk About: with various notes of what people've said (shady groups, a parasite) but nothing defining what the hell this IS.
The Heartland Incident: with mostly news clippings, Akari's article, and 'who wants this quiet.'
I will stop sticking my nose in other people's business when I'm dead: with various rumors, sightings, and strange happenings in Domino.

Date: 2017-05-07 05:30 am (UTC)He sighs, sipping on his coffee. Is there a job he can do with his talents that DOESN'T mean he's working for an eccentric billionaire? ... no, probably not.
The rumors are all carefully categorized into 'solved, debunked, and ongoing.' Seems he's pulling from quite a few sources, backing up the urban legend/rumor posts with eyewitness testimony, has her as a 'credible source' since she's at least hit the idea of the actual stories.
The ones that clearly interest him are 'vigilante action' detailing the actions of a young woman beating up gangs. And 'why is my tap water honey, who is responsible for this.'

Date: 2017-05-07 05:39 am (UTC)OOPARTS is almost entirely funded by Black Velvet with the Domino Police Force barely putting in any money. Though I'm currently in the middle of financial restructuring and trying to make sure everything is on the up-and-up and avoiding excess waste, since the company is no longer Noriko's playground.
::Flips through the information back and forth.::
Though ... Your tap water is honey?

Date: 2017-05-07 05:45 am (UTC)Anyway, business then. Can I get ya a coffee, tiny overpriced sandwich, before I get to try to justify my existence?"
no subject
Date: 2017-05-07 05:56 am (UTC)I'll give you points in style for brown-nosing and knowing why I'm here.
I'll take the coffee as I prefer big thick steaks over dainty girly sandwich crap.

Date: 2017-05-07 06:07 am (UTC)He grins.
"I can dig that style."
He flags someone down for coffee, before he clears his throat.
"Want me to just get straight down to it?"

Date: 2017-05-07 06:15 am (UTC)The straighter, the better. Don't give me a namby pamby run around like Onni would.

Date: 2017-05-07 06:30 am (UTC)"I'm part of 'heavy weaponry' because of my body, dueling style, and penchant for resorting to explosives. I hand craft 'em, don't take anything out of the budget for 'em. I've been doing this or other military/security jobs since I was 18, enlisted right after high school. I'm now fifty.
As you can tell, I'm not just a meathead like the rest of the populace of my size. Each of those is a detailed case I'm currently working on, some with months of work put into them. I take great pride in my skills as a detective, miss Wakahisa, and would say I would rank my skills in actual field and case work on par with my combat, if not moreso.
The chart in a public place gives no classified details away and has actually helped me obtain information from sources who have been curious and asked and I have given as little as possible away and made sure to walk out with more than I came with."
For what looks like a scuzzy 80s metal head, he is... remarkably devious and organized.
