[An Event Post]
May. 6th, 2017 01:22 amAfter a little bit of wheedling from nerds, instead of relaxing on his one day off, Kaz can be found:
1.) On the Barian Island! He's got questions that he could really care less about but might be important down the line. So, he's here to ask them and maybe just get conversations with sane people.
2.) At a cafe in his 'way too relaxed' teacher garb. He's going over papers in a folder, occasionally puffing on his unlit cigarette in his mouth. Sometimes he consults a large cork board at his feet.

Date: 2017-05-06 06:32 am (UTC)Either way, Failnaught's already staring at you when you make your presence known, for once not pouring over the Sanctum.*
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:37 am (UTC)... This is fine. Gives a wave.
"Ah! Hey Failnaught. What's going on?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:37 am (UTC)*that's... that's fair.*
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:40 am (UTC)Unfortunately, all I've got today are uncomfortable questions."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:41 am (UTC)What questions?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:48 am (UTC)Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:50 am (UTC)Does this involve the "uncomfortable questions"?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:56 am (UTC)Anyway. Brass tacks? Brass tacks."
Literally anyone else here? ... no? Just Failnaught? Fine.
"Uncomfortable questions then. Did... Scythe possess someone a little while ago...?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:58 am (UTC)... He makes a "hnmn." sound, giving you this stare.*
Why do you ask?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:10 am (UTC)"There's a guy, Mamoru? I kinda work with him, and Sullivan's got a weird crush on this project he's working on. Makes very convincing, very real feeling dark duels, to the point where another buddy of mine took off for the Twelve Dimensions to see if it had any lasting impact on real people.
He also apparently grabbed a scythe and wandered around with it, has amnesia about the whole thing, and got his cards replaced. He's, uh. One sec."
He pulls out a notepad and consults.
"'Missing one card, which is blank. The deck is sad.' ... That's all I took from that two hour wheedle from Sullivan...? Ah! And my companion thinks that his psychic powers were enhanced by the possession or something is lingering on."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:17 am (UTC)I only know so much about the situation, but... One moment.
*he walks off towards the Sanctum, and you almost think he might've ditched you, but
He comes back carrying a very large mechanical scythe, that looks like it requires a great amount of strength to carry, let alone hold properly, and he places it blade-first into the ground. It's notable that it has a large gap in its' head, as well.*
When Scythe's weapon came to me, it was in pieces. It was only by sentiment that it was even restored to it's previous state. The pieces... were very worn and rusted over.
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:25 am (UTC)The gap is... It's missing the real important part, yeah?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:31 am (UTC)I can't restore what doesn't exist, anymore.
We, the Barians-- the bodies you see aren't our true forms. We are made up of our weapons, and our Cores. Damage to either one can cause... Undesirable effects. After all, the Core is our self, while the weapon is what could be considered to be our true body, as well as a filtering mechanism.
Going back to the question... I think I can say for certain that Scythe did possess a human. But given the state those pieces were in... I think it's safe for me to claim that by the time that had happened, his senses had long since been worn away.
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:15 pm (UTC)And, uh. Ya'll seem ta have like a purview, stuff ya folks are good at. Like, Aegis is the bubbly one who's like... a 'barrier' between ya'll an' the outside world. Labrys is a fierce guardian. You repair things.
What, ah. Role was Scythe?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:22 pm (UTC)... And we all had things we were meant to do. Aegis and Achilleshield are both defenders. They're meant to take any attack that could be levied against us. Labrys is an attacker-- same as Moralltach and Beagalltach. Their weapons are designed to most effectively take out the "demons" we fought against. My job is meant to be on repair and support, as you said.
... Scythe's job was two-fold. He would assist me in my repair work, and as the circumstances became more and more dire, he became an attacker, as well.
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:33 pm (UTC)Mm. Repair and support with an attacking bent when it was..."
He hrms, lighting another cigarette after dropping the remains of the last one into a small hiking container.
"If he's actually tapping into things that did exist or didn't..."
Kaz snaps, face moving into an 'ah-ha' expression.
"I'm gonna need a few more days, see what the hot head or my mom says, but I think I can juryrig ya'll into being on 'patrol' and get paid while trying to figure this out.
... One more question. Ya ain't beholden ta me, I'm pretty sure I barely rank above the reporters or people trying to claim this as Japan's territory or something to ya, why're ya being so open?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:36 pm (UTC)... Besides, if I felt you were going to use my information against us at any point... *he lets that trail off a little, very clearly giving a warning in his tone.*
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:47 pm (UTC)He nods.
"Pragmatism, then. Alright. I'm gonna see about following up on coming out here often then. ... would ya like some books on our world next time I come out?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 06:52 pm (UTC)... But fine, if you want an additional reason to come again. Though I don't know what books you could decide to bring.
*he lifts the scythe out of the earth, the point made-- it's actually kinda astounding that a guy of his size can lift it, and it's more astounding to realize that a human had even dragged that thing around.*
Did this answer your questions?
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 07:19 pm (UTC)"...thanks. I'll figure that out, if ya guys are gonna be here, maybe figuring out culture and history would help a little... maybe on how some of the other folks can make a little cash...
... Think it did. I'll get back to all of ya'll in a few days after chewing on this info and the guys who'll have a some missing puzzle pieces."
He hoos.
"It's, uh. Nice and relaxed here, compared to the city. Mind if I take a few hours and read?"
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-06 10:06 pm (UTC)As long as you don't go wandering around, it's fine.
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-07 01:45 am (UTC)... wanna join me, actually? I got the first in the series here."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-07 01:47 am (UTC)Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-07 02:15 am (UTC)He scratches at his cheek.
"I guess... I dunno. Sometimes I feel like ya'll might need the company. From what I've seen, each of ya folks are great and ya've been dealt a rotten hand by the universe.
So, I wanna help out everyone as much as I can. And even if right now, that's just offering a mystery novel and a bit of company out on the beach, maybe later I can do more.
... does that make sense?
Also, selfishly, I want someone who isn't my roommate or a meathead to be able to talk about this series with and you legitimately seem like a smart and clever guy who could appreciate a good story."
Re: [1]
Date: 2017-05-07 02:19 am (UTC)*he goes and carries the scythe with him back in the direction of the Sanctum. And returns a few minutes later as you ponder the heaviness of that.*
Fine. Tell me about these books.
