A not needed to understand this post short story, but maybe to understand other character's actions. Quarter recent events, three fourths flashback. A Kazback.

Kaz has standing business! Thankfully, this is because he is very busy and has a tendency to drag his feet and not because the person writing him disappears for half a week at a time.

He's either:

1.) Hanging out on the Barian island. More books, more relaxation. Make sure he doesn't get that in.

2.) On LDS' campus, waiting for some of his 'special classes' to start. And maybe congratulate some people in person, since they've done so well.

3.) Maybe he's at your house after some agonizing soul searching, dressed in a suit, trying really hard to look professional. ... it's very hard for him.

... I don't know if I want to meet him. I feel like if I do, I'll make a very risky decision. But it's something I wouldn't want to wish onto anyone. *he has that look that says that he absolutely knows what's going through his head is bad.*

As for that... He has Scythe's partner, right?

... Are ya thinking ya can... use him to make Scythe again or something?"

... I was going to say actually that White Rider may be sending a signal feedback. Or whatever Scythe left in him is giving a similar "fight or flight" reaction that we get around those demons. I don't know, since this is an entirely new territory.

*that isn't the answer, and he knows it. He seems to ready himself.*

It's terrible of me.

"... that isn't terrible. I mean, it... KINDA is but..."

He scratches at the back of his head.

"Alright. You're weighing it. That means ya know it's terrible, but in your shoes? With all that's happened? I can't blame ya. The ability to bring back your friend? The only thing that's stopping ya is the cost, yeah?"

There's multiple things stopping me.

Namely the fact that no matter what I might want. Even if by some miracle, he agreed to this.

The Core is gone. I can't remake a Core.

"...yeah. Guess that's a damper too.

... tell ya what. Think on it a little while longer. If ya wanna, I'll mediate the meeting IF he agrees to it."

It's a necessary "damper". I shouldn't be thinking about it, and even if it were possible, it'd be a curse.

... I'll consider that though. It's just surreal. Knowing someone exists who looks like him.

"Yeah, I'm... sorry I pushed about this. It looked like ya were more bothered than ya normally are."

I was. It's a thought that keeps coming up, no matter how much I convince myself that it can't happen, and won't happen.

I don't really know who to talk to otherwise. I spent a decade avoiding even speaking directly to my comrades. *... that must've been an awkward time.*

"...yeah, that's what friends are for though, buddy. If ya get stuff like that and think airing it out is gonna help, I'm willing to listen."
