[Event Post]

ogrewarriorA not needed to understand this post short story, but maybe to understand other character's actions. Quarter recent events, three fourths flashback. A Kazback.
Kaz has standing business! Thankfully, this is because he is very busy and has a tendency to drag his feet and not because the person writing him disappears for half a week at a time.
He's either:
1.) Hanging out on the Barian island. More books, more relaxation. Make sure he doesn't get that in.
2.) On LDS' campus, waiting for some of his 'special classes' to start. And maybe congratulate some people in person, since they've done so well.
3.) Maybe he's at your house after some agonizing soul searching, dressed in a suit, trying really hard to look professional. ... it's very hard for him.

I know who destroyed Heartland and I'm working on a project to keep it from happening here. What do you think my special classes have been for?"

And I'm guessing, since you're working on a project to prevent the same happening here, then there's a large risk of it being a possibility?

...An extremely large risk is putting it mildly. Which... Yuma deserves to know why I've suddenly got an interest beyond LDS and know why I'm looking at him. ...which is terrible of me, I know. But he has some experience with stuff like this, so..."

He has... some information. He's keeping most of it from me, but here's what I know for a fact. They use fusion. They're basically us, but from an alternate timeline or something where we're not... The good guys, essentially. An evil Duel Academy, where they're the aggressors, not the defenders. Uh, this... evil DA may be in a war with people who use XYZ stuff?
And so, your city got targeted."
He rubs his temples. He wants a cigarette. A shot.
"Right now, I'm... working on a small crack squad of duelists. The league's been something to find the best duelists. Ryozanpaku's a 'crude imitation' of their tactics which means these guys are nasty. Of those people in my 'special classes' I'm... trying to find out who's got the will for something as insane as what Aka-I mean, my boss and I are trying to pull off. And then I'm gonna shoot point blank and ask them if I think they can."

Heartland was attacked by some evil Duel Academy, from some kind of alternate timeline or whatever, that uses fusion summoning, because they don't like XYZ users?
And your project is to find Duelists like Yuma, through the league and your 'special classes', to help prevent an attack happening here?

I'll admit I don't like the idea of Yuma being secretly groomed to be part of some crack squad of duelists to go against these people. If this had been a few years ago, I probably would of kicked you out of the house by now.
But...
*She removes her hands from her face and glances over at Yuma.*
Yuma's proved that he can handle himself, more than once. I hate that he gets pulled into these things, but we've long since accepted that it'll keep happening because of who he is.
Plus, he's almost an adult, so he's old enough to decide whether or not he wants to be involved with this.

"This stays between us. I'm... sorry. I know you're a journalist. I know this is exactly what you were looking for. But... I don't think that it'll go over well for any of us if this gets leaked. As it stands, I might have to flee the country just for telling you guys."

And the fact that it involves kids on both sides doesn't sit well with me either...
But in the end, it sounds like leaking this information might put us all in danger.
*She pauses to think for a moment.*
We'll keep this to ourselves, for now, as a thank you for at least coming to us and telling us the truth about all this, apparently against your bosses wishes.
But if I think those kids are being put in unnecessary danger, then I might have to re-think it. For now, I'm going to trust you to have their best interests at heart and that they'll eventually be told about this.
I also hope that your boss knows what the hell he's doing!

"Honestly? If ya feel the need to call it all out? I'll be right there with ya. Sometimes ya can't see what you're doing, but if other people don't like what's happening... I'll gladly be called out by you, ma'm."

I guess for now I'll carry on with your special classes and stuff if I need to.
*He can probably tell Yuma is really uncomfortable with this too. He doesn't want to keep this from his friends, and he wasn't even 100% sure what to think of all this himself yet, but for now, it was better to just continue as normal.*
