A not needed to understand this post short story, but maybe to understand other character's actions. Quarter recent events, three fourths flashback. A Kazback.

Kaz has standing business! Thankfully, this is because he is very busy and has a tendency to drag his feet and not because the person writing him disappears for half a week at a time.

He's either:

1.) Hanging out on the Barian island. More books, more relaxation. Make sure he doesn't get that in.

2.) On LDS' campus, waiting for some of his 'special classes' to start. And maybe congratulate some people in person, since they've done so well.

3.) Maybe he's at your house after some agonizing soul searching, dressed in a suit, trying really hard to look professional. ... it's very hard for him.

Yeah, we sure did. Now we just need to defend the title during the Festival, next. *he... doesn't sound thrilled for that. it's gonna be daunting.*

"Ah! If anyone can do it, it'll be you two. I'll admit, I was real worried near the end of your duel with Kachidoki and Zheng... And a LITTLE bit with... DoubleYu. But... Oh, right.

Yeah. I keep expecting that if Kachidoki and Zheng don't go after us, their schoolmates will, especially. And while I'm pretty confident we can handle this, at the same time, I'm not really eager.

Yeah, I missed that particular bit. It must've happened after Trendafilka and I escaped.

It's... a good sign Ryozan's about to lose what little he's built. I don't think any of the older kids have the ability to cope with losing."

*that's sure an obvious thing in Kachidoki's part...* Guess that'd explain why he thought that one loss is enough for anyone. But... Ryozanpaku's a bigger school than just the ones that've shown up here in Domino, right?

"This is definitely their best and brightest. They're all fantastic duelists in addition to their methods. Ryozan's talking a big game, but I think he knows that this is all he has. And they've been matched, his lifeline is Hayate.

And if his methods are starting to wane after what you and Trena did... well. I'd start pulling my kids from the school. Hell, after seeing what he's making kids do, or once someone with a big mouth and sharp teeth leaks that he's keeping them there until they make pro... Well. Y'know. Legal issues."

Trendafilka's not someone who's gonna lie about something, even if it suits her needs better and if she really DID get that from multiple kids there...?"

... Then... I have to wonder how possible it might even be for parents to try to pull their kids out. I don't know how Ryozanpaku works exactly, but there's a reason for them to be there.

"Finances, probably. I'm a scheming bastard and if I really worked at it, I could be the worst person on earth. I'd make it so I could hit them with a huge fine worth all the rest of the unpaid tuition, up until the point I thought they'd be able to make it pro.

Maybe they don't KNOW what it's like. It's a quirk of the school, maybe. Maybe they peddle that's what DA and LDS do, despite being untrue. And people eat it wholesale.

Or, people are heartless monsters. This is a convenient way of dumping their kids and cheapest in the short run.

So any way possible, it's just a mess. Makes me kinda glad I never went to a dueling school.

I'm probably one of the flukes, all things considered. Basically everyone I've ever heard of has been in one of those schools... *scratching his cheek a bit*

Oh, right, yeah. I want to try out some of the Action Dueling fields before this festival happens. I need to be ready and on my toes for this.
