1.) Kaz sits in a patio restaurant, eating a sandwich, drinking a beer, and smoking occasionally. Maybe you've called him there to meet after a nightmare meeting, or you're there to ruin his afternoon. What looks like a bakery package is at his feet He's also considering some notes on his tablet, but seems much more interested in his lunch.

2.) Or he's on the Barian island. True to his word, he has brought a few different kinds of beer, a boar hunting spear, a book, and Sullivan, who seems really excited to be there..

"I mean, it's probably for killing fae, but, you know. Bugs, fae. Tomato, tomato."

He laughs.

"Shit, I probably can't say things like that about the fae anymore. Ugh. Uh, anyway, the crossbar to keep it from running up the base of the spear is important, especially if Sullivan goes full nutcase on us."

Shrugs, staring off into waves, hoping for the ocean to come up and eat him.

And why is she the worst?

"Look, she's a dangerous loon with probable good intentions but bungles literally everything she's ever touched, including being the dragon for my ex who destroyed my apartment with a chain gun because she kept futzing with her head.

She also should have, you know, queenly duties to attend to, but instead she's screwing around on earth and faffing about with my daughter. And I should be happy for Kiko, but I suspect there's going to be problems arising from it right when everything else around here hits the fan."

... The question begs why she's screwing around on Earth. And why she's so unlucky.

"Ancient curses, probably. Poor planning. Not wanting to do her job. The list is endless, but doesn't mean she shouldn't be doing it anyway. Gods and soldiers don't get vacations."

He grins widely.
