Kaz can be found sitting on top of something tall, empty whisky bottles sitting around him. A bag sits next to him, with the phrase 'For Kazzy <3' on it. He's currently alternating between taking drags of cigarettes and pulls off his newest bottle.

"He, uh... I don't know if you're magically sensitive, but the bastard summoned something old and dark."

He gestures out into the city.

"And didn't tell me, just apologized, left the apartment spotless, and bought me a brand new deck. Like that doesn't mean I'm not gonna break his neck."

Oh-- is that what I felt? *so she is magically sensitive. she gets herself settled up where you are.*

It... sounds like he felt pretty sorry for it. But what exactly did he summon? *god, it better not be one of those remaining demons...*

"An Elder God. Or something that THINKS it's an Elder God. Apparently the girl he was using to help gather energy was apparently a battery of some sort. It went out of his control and..." He groans. "Damn. I said I was gonna make sure that wasn't gonna be something that happened."

[handofaegis]

*an Elder God, huh? So probably not a demon, at least...*

So there's some... Faux-Elder God just going around the area, now?

"Yup. Kicker is, he was my tracker for shit like this."

Oh, that's awkward then.

If he knew that, then he probably doesn't want you to get involved.

"Well, too late. It's my job. It WAS his job. Shit, sorry. Been rambling too long. I'm Kaz." He offers a cigarette and whisky bottle.

I'm Aegis.

*... she doesn't entirely know what to do with the cigarette-- she knows she's seen things like it before, but it involves fire? nah. so she takes the bottle instead. she knows what a drink is.*

What do you plan on doing, though?

"Aegis? Pleased to meet ya. Are ya one of the Barians?" He shrugs again and takes a drag of his cigarette.

"And, dunno. Ain't thought that far ahead, after I've killed this thing."

... What makes you think I am?

*she's not confirming or denying that-- but she wants to know what made her seem it*

"Well, think the last one I think is one of the Barians I heard about, is magically sensitive and had a weird name. Wants herself called the Sun. Sorry if I offended ya, you could just be a mage or a different kind of spirit."

[handofaegis]

... oh! That isn't... The "Sun" isn't a Barian. She's a Bujin, it's an honest mistake though.

But uh... Yeah. I'm one of the Barians. *she gives the whisky a try.* ... weird taste.

"I don't actually think I heard anything about a Bujin. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend." He shrugs. "I like it well enough. How's uh... Domino going?"

Well, it'd be no surprise. She's kinda... a surprise in itself.

And Domino seems fine! I've been around here a few times before. It's exciting actually living near it and not in constant danger, though.

"Yeah, I guess that's gotta be a huge relief. I float in and out, but have always come back since I first came here. And... Last of her kind, surprise? She and I got to really talking."

[handofaegis]

Yeah, uh... Basically. We didn't even know she was alive herself until really recently. Her entire situation's... pretty bad. I think it'd be rude if I start talking about it.

*takes another drink-- you gotta wonder if Barians even metabolize alcohol the same way. are they like humans or are they aliens or rocks or what.*

Does anyone really metabolize anything normally around here? This is my third bottle of the stuff and I'm only kinda drunk.

"Yeah, sorry. If I want the full story, I'll ask her. So, uh. What're you and the other Barians doing? Just... hanging out here? If I seem pushy, I'm just legitimately curious. Tell me if ya ain't comfortable with my Q&A and I'll drop it and we'll shoot the shit. You can quiz me too, if it helps ya feel comfortable. Any question, I'll give the best answer I can."

Well... I don't even know what you do know, so it makes it kinda hard. But we're settling on our home. That island that appeared.

It took a lot to even get us here, since this is a very low-energy dimension, as Failnaught put it.

[ogrewarrior]

"Yeah, it is. Probably getting to the point where we're going bigger, more energy. More magic. Even a lunk like me could learn to use the stuff."

He laughs.

"Glad you guys settled here, though. All noble people should find a place to be able to just... come and relax.

[handofaegis]

Eheh... you think we're noble? I dunno about "noble", myself, but... we've been through a lot of things. I'm just happy we can actually do something that isn't demon extermination, or worrying about the ground beneath you breaking apart, or people dying cause they knew us.

I dunno about magic, though. It's kinda suffocating to be honest, to be here. Not as bad for me or my brother, but we can't even go to our real forms here.

[ogrewarrior]

"Sounds like this is a well deserved break, then. Maybe last a few centuries for ya'll." He shrugs.

"I think it's more magical than it was twenty, thirty years ago when I was doing field work. But, yeah, I can only imagine what it's like to go from being somewhere out there," He waves at the sky. "an' come back here."

Few centuries, millennia, it's hard for me to pinpoint it. It feels like we've been around forever.

But wow... it probably would've been harder for us to really adapt to this place, then. Thankfully our home-- it has some ambient energy from where we were, so it helps. But we just sorta hope it'll last long enough to get us used to here.

Causeeee I don't think there's gonna be enough energy again to do what we did.

[ogrewarrior]

"Well, this is the place to do it! We're cool with damn near anything here that keeps the peace. Don't know why people keep thinking they'd start here and go out for world ending or conquering plots." He cackles and takes a swig.

"Nah, probably not. Not until I'm dust long gone. ... maybe."

I don't even know if we'll have enough energy even by then. Moralltach-- I mean, Koyo. That's his name right now. He did something really amazing by managing to get us here, but I know it left him a mess to do so. Even Failnaught was knocked out for a while. Which is kinda amazing. I've never seen him sleep before.

*she takes another drink, and puts down the bottle*

Still a weird taste for me.
